Ethan Karas is a director, projection designer, and theatremaker based in NYC. These days, you can find Ethan at Playwrights Horizons as the Artistic/Literary Fellow for the 2025/26 season.

As a director, Ethan’s recent projects include everything from intimate performance art pieces such as The Future Show to large-scale musicals such as BEOWULF: A Thousand Years of Baggage. In addition to his own work, Ethan has been privileged to work with directors such as Mary Zimmerman, Amanda Dehnert, David Catlin, Braden Abraham, and Mikael Burke.

As a projection designer, Ethan has created for plays, operas, nightclubs, and everything in between. He has assisted for companies and designers such as Elevator Repair Service, Theatre in Quarantine, Mike Tutaj, Jesse Garrison, Matthew Deinhart, and Nora Marlow Smith.
